Valerie A. Sawyer, Attorney

Valerie brings a variety of experiences to The Alabama Elder Care Law Firm. She was an honor graduate of Birmingham School of Law and was admitted to the bar in 2024. While in law school, she served as president of the Judge Hugh Locke Honor Society and was a member of the Trial Team. She earned her undergraduate degree in English from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. She obtained valuable legal experience as a paralegal for a property law firm as well as two personal injury firms. Valerie was also a high school special education teacher in Jefferson County, Alabama. As a teacher, she discovered the need for advocates for this special population.

Prior to law school, Valerie served as a squadron commander in the Civil Air Patrol earning the rank of Captain, eventually serving as the Director of Recruiting and Retention for the Alabama Wing. During her time in Civil Air Patrol, she organized and implemented the first Civil Air Patrol Women’s Leadership Conference in the nation. The conference included military and civilian leaders and was inspirational to all in attendance.

Through her volunteer work, Valerie discovered her passion for elder law. She works closely with her clients, helping them in both the simple and complicated issues involved in estate planning, elder law, and probate.

Valerie enjoys spending time with her husband, college boys, and her golden retriever. She continues to volunteer with veterans in her community.
