What’s New at The Alabama Elder Care Law Firm

Company News

Welcome our Newest Attorney – Valerie Sawyer

Valerie spoke at the Hoover Senior Center recently on “Topics that Every Senior Should Know” and it was a rousing success. She touched on everything from basic estate planning to Veterans benefits, how to qualify for Medicaid, how to protect assets when entering the nursing home, and what to do if a loved one is losing capacity. These are all topics we routinely deal with as a firm.

We Are Expanding!

In September, our office will expand into the space next door, which means that our front door will move down the hall (just one door down). Our growth is steady but not rapid. We are growing because there continues to be an unmet need in the Birmingham area for qualified elder law attorneys and most law school graduates choose to pursue other areas of law such as personal injury, criminal defense, or trial work in general. We like what we do though and people say we are quite good at it! We don’t do criminal defense, personal injury, divorce, bankruptcy, real estate closings, Social Security work, or adoptions. We ONLY help families protect and preserve their life savings, whether that is through estate planning, Medicaid planning, Guardianships/Conservatorships, or probate. We try to stay narrow but deep in how we practice law. If a need arises in any of these areas, I hope you will come to see us!
